U.C.L.: The Installation

If you have any questions, e-mail me or if you're lucky, you can ICQ me at 11140088.

The night before

· The entry fee has gone down to $10.
· Don't forget to bring along your DVDs and vids to feed the Dolby Surround Lan Theatre system.
· If I haven't got a map up in time, these are brief directions:
Get to the west siiiiieede of Hadley Park and charge down Riccarton Road. About 1 or 2kms from Riccarton mall, you'll get to Ilam road which is on your right. Cruise down there for a few kms and you'll pass some shops on your left. The students association is just up ahead on the right. The LAN is on the top floor of the building in the Upper Common Room. They should be good directions, but I'm from Kerikeri anyways.

Tuesday 6th July - BRING YOUR OWN UTP CABLES - Odysseus

One thing that I might not have stressed enough and would be a real bummer if people forgot and I overlooked is to BRING YOUR OWN UTP CABLING. I put that up at the start. Sorry if I caused some confusion.

At the moment I'm in the middle of getting competitions of Quake and Quake 2 CTF, and team DM. There's gonna be a web server set up so you can register for competitions as they come up and you can check results and download patches and mods.

Since there'll be a real big tv there, if I can't get a VCR, can someone let me know if you can get one. Bring all your vids along, most tastes can be accomadated :) Might use the telly for some deathmatch action and some rugga. Looks like there will be sky as well. That'll own!

If you want to sleep.. (yeah right), don't forget to bring your own sleeping bad and drinks. Oh yeah, and pizza money

Lan starts between 4 and 5 not 6-7 like it said on the front page.

Monday 5th July Registrations close in 2 days - Odysseus

So I can confirm with the Students' Association how many people will be coming, I'll need to have registations in by Wednesday.

Friday 9th July - Odysseus

Just to make sure people aren't being funny buggars, I need valid email addresses that I can get a reply from otherwise it's hard to know how many people are coming. I might have to keep the price up at $15 otherwise. Apart from that it's all go!

Tuesday 29th June - Odysseus

Right. I've finally got a new 8 gig HDD the other day and have been spending many hours reinstalling all the crap I used to have on there. Man I had heaps of stuff. Anyways, if someone can come up with a replacement for this first-attempt at html programming page, they can get free entry.

If anyone can help out with bringing and servers could you re-email me and I'll get you hooked up.

Tolarian can get some cheap gear if anyone is short of a cable or two. I've lost my contact so can't get any cheap gears. He's your man.

Make sure you get the regisrations in soon cause there are only... (what's the date) um... the 14th.

The venue will be the Shelly Common Room upstairs in the UCSA building. There's a 50-odd inch tv there so if you get bored you can space out in front of infomercials for a while.

Thursday 1st July HDD Crash - Odysseus

I completely fried my old hard drive a couple of days ago and with it all the emails and info. It just sits there and refuses to even start spinning. To say the least I wasn't impressed! As many of you will know, it's not easy to get data back which you have lost and not backed up so could everyone who sent emails about anything apart from registering, could you resend them? Thanks. I guess if your name's not on the list you'll have to re-register.

Saturday 26th June - Odysseus

There's now a discussion page up, so get writing.

Wednesday 23rd June - Odysseus

If you are in need of some hardware for the event, e.g. hubs, cables, network cards, switches or most other hardware, drop me an email because I can get new hardware sourced pretty cheap, albeit close to wholesale.

If anyone has a digital camera, could you charge along with it so I can get some photos up of the do after?

Tuesday 22nd June - Odysseus

I have been able to secure about 3 or 4 ethernet switches; 12 port 10/100 switchable ones each of 12 ports.  It would be best if everyone could bring their hubs as well just in case the supplier falls through (remote chance). I can get 2 or so linux boxes for servers. Drop me a message as to what mods or games you want on them so I can prepare.

Still need more people to get over that 50 mark so the entry fee'll drop.

Oh yeah and if anyone is reading this and works for Clear or Telecom and can provide some form of fast internet (ISDN or ADSL), drop me a line. Got a feeling that the pic below might put some people off. :)

Friday 18th June - Odysseus

I have had words with the powers that be and it doesn't look like we can have a frame relay connection. Sorry, might have to make do with modem.

Tuesday 15th June - Odysseus

I have managed to secure a venue at the Students' Association Ballrom at Canterbury University. As mentioned above, it will start around 6 in the evening and go until Sunday lunch. There will be more info added here as it comes to hand, as this was hastily put together to get word out A.S.A.P.

The inside word

Bring your own UTP cables as we don't want any fisticuffs at the end over ownership. Also bring your own network card as well. Duh....

There will be very little if any multi-way power boxes, so bring your own if you can, and extension cables too.

If anyone can help out by bringing hubs, cabling or especially switches, could you email me. That would be greatly appreciated.

Pretty much goes without saying to bring your own caffiene and taurine-containing refreshments.

Oh yeah, and if anyone has any NT or linux boxes that could be donated for server or networking purposes for the weekend, that would be good-as, as above email please

As the long hard hours of gibbing take their toll on the weary gamer, they seem to get a bit peckish, so no doubt there will be a run down to Eagle Boys sometime during the night.

Might have trouble finding a projector screen TV. If anyone knows where I can hire one cheap. Let me know.

If you need other info check out the Venue/Info page or email Odysseus if you have any other questions.
